We then watched a interesting video about the eruption which happened in 2010 from the volcano Eyjafjallajokull. I thought that it was amazing to see how big the explosion was and how much ash was ejected and to see how it affected the lives of everyone in Iceland.
We continued on our journey and stopped at another waterfall. It was fascinating to see the force of the water over the drop. To get to the top we had to climb over 400 steps. At this waterfall we had lunch and visited some shops before making our way to the highlight of my day... The glacier walk.
When we arrived we were told how to put our crampons and harnesses on. I had great difficulty as I managed to twist my harness but after some struggle and some help I finally got it on. We then walked what seemed like miles to reach the glacier. Here we put our crampons on. I yet again had difficulty putting my kit on but with some help from Miss Jackson's experience with crampons (she has done this four times!) I got my crampons fastened on.
It was a steep slope down to the glacier edge. The guide told us to walk in single file and to follow his path. He showed us moulins and crevasses which were much bigger than I had expected. We carried on to the point where we could see the spectacular views and we were able to drink pure glacier water from a stream running down the middle. We trekked back to the bus which seemed to take twice as long as getting there. At this point, Mr Nicholson discovered that he had left his bag all the way at the start of the glacier!! We then had a two hour bus trip to Hotel Laki where we tucked in to some lovely dinner. We have finished the day watching the rugby.

To sum it all up, today was fascinating and I enjoyed every minute of it. But now I am very tired and ready for my bed.
