Day 1: Toby Newton

We landed in Reykjavik at half past two; it was quite windy when we were landing and there was a lot of turbulence!  When we landed we were close to the capital of Iceland and it really was not what I thought it would it would like.  It was very flat and you could see for a long way.

I was surprised to see a very weird looking bus as it was very high from the ground.  It was quite a jump to get up on to the bus's steps.  When we got to the hotel, there was the HQ of 'Quiz Up', which is a well known app across the world.

We had just set off on our walk around the town centre when we came to a big church that was made of concrete.  It was made in columns which were very tall and quite long.  This design represents the basalt columns that we will apparently be seeing later in our trip.

We came across the national parliament building and I was surprised because there were no guards or any security in front to protect it al all!  Also, it was a very small building and they only have 60 MPs to represent the population of Iceland which is just over 300,000 people.

We finally ended our night time walk at a very flashy building which is the national theatre.  It was flashy because of the amount of light on the outside of the building.  We got back to our hotel at quarter past ten and after a very long day, we were in for the night and ready for our trip tomorrow.
